New Release: The Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

Thursday 1 January 2015

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection, New Release, Real Techniques Brushes, Review

This week Real Techniques announced and released their brand new 'Bold Metals Collection'. The range features 7 brand new brushes with new cuts - aimed at those who want a high performance brush which allows for perfect Make Up Application. In the UK these brushes are brand new and exclusive to Boots, and in the USA - Ulta The 7 brushes in the range are broken down into 3 categories:

Gold - Face/Base Brushes.

Rose Gold - Finishing Brushes.

When I found out the brushes had hit the stores, I headed straight to my local boots and snapped up 4 out of the 7 available. There aren't many images of the brushes out there in the world, So I wanted to share my brush haul with you, in case you were thinking of buying them too.

Now, before I get into talking about the brushes that I chose - let me just talk about the price. These brushes are very expensive compared to the price of the previous collections - with the entire 7 brush collection coming in at a whopping £130.00 - so do bare that in mind when looking into purchasing them. These are marketed as a 'Luxe' product and they do come with eye watering prices - especially for a drugstore brand. Real Techniques promises softer bristles and thinner weighted handles - easier for use and storing, which should hopefully answer many a girls prayers.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection, New Release, Real Techniques Brushes, Review, Triangle Foundation Brush, 101

101 Bold Metals Collection Triangle Foundation Brush  £22.00

I feel like I'm always constantly searching for the best way to apply my foundation and I was intrigued to try out a triangle shaped brush having never tried or even seen a brush of this style before.
It's an interesting concept and I'm looking forward to trying it out. I really hope it lives up to my expectations as at this price point - it's worth pointing out that for about £5.00 extra, you can buy a foundation brush from Mac.
I'll be testing this out over the next few weeks and I can't wait to let you know my thoughts.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection, New Release, Real Techniques Brushes, Review, Oval Shadow Brush, 200

200 Bold Metals Collection Oval Shadow Brush £15.00

At £15.00 this brush packs a hefty price for a single brush, and is around the same price point as a Mac brush. The bristles feel soft, although I'm not usually a fan of white bristled eyeshadow brushes due to how dirty they look after one use.
Confession time - I don't actually own any of the original Real Techniques eye brushes as I felt they just looked a little clunky, so this will be my first time using an eye brush from the brand. I much prefer how the bristles appear to be packed in this collection, and I can't wait to use it.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection, New Release, Real Techniques Brushes, Review, Pointed Crease Brush, 201

201 Bold Metals Collection Pointed Crease Brush £12.00

Crease Brushes are some of my favourite brushes and I really struggle to do my make up without them. I usually swear by my trusty Crown Brush pointed crease brushes and I'm looking forward to seeing how this one compares. £12.00 felt pretty reasonable to me in terms of price, so let's see how it lives up to it.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection, New Release, Real Techniques Brushes, Review, Flat Contour Brush, 301

Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection, New Release, Real Techniques Brushes, Review

301 Bold Metals Collection Flat Contour Brush £22.00

There was one brush that I couldn't wait to get my hands on as soon as I saw the collection and that brush was the Flat Contour Brush. At £22.00, it's one of the more pricey brushes in the collection, and it's worth pointing out that for just £6.50 more, you can buy a Nars Ita Kabuki Contour Brush. I love the beautiful rose gold handle on this brush and I have a feeling that this may just become my most used brush! I can't wait to test this one out.

So those are my picks from the collection, and I can't wait to review them all for you.  Eventually I would like to collect all 7, I'd just like to give the initial 4 a fighting chance as I feel a little uneasy about the high price point. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the collection and the controversial price prices... Would you buy them?  Let me know in the comments.

  1. They look great but I personally think they are too expensive for drugstore brushes!

  2. I probably will end up purchasing a couple of them after I have read a few reviews. They look so stunning and if they end up being even better than the original Real Techniques range then it'll be worth it in my opinion.

  9. These look so beautiful, but the MAC and NARS price points don't seem to justify it. Looking forward to your review once you've trialled and tested them!

  10. I am very interested to hear how you get on with these. They look better than a Mac brush so if the quality is there then the price is not an issue. I do love my Nars brush though x

  12. I'm tempted by the pointed crease brush but the others are far too expensive. I prefer weightier brushes and found Nik's Picks very light in comparison to the original brushes which I didn't like :-/

  14. These brushes look beautiful but the prices are a little eye watering compared to the other brushes from the Real Techniques range. The Flat Contour brush sounds the most intriging and the rose gold handle is beautiful. x

  16. I love Real Techniques and I'm sure these brushes are wonderful, but at those prices I would probably only buy one - and that would be after reading a lot of reviews! x

  17. I really love the look of these new brushes but I am slightly put off by the price! I'm thinking of maybe just picking up one brush for now (one of the rose gold ones) to see if I like them. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! xo

  18. I'm going to be honest, I don't actually own any of the Real Techniques brushes... shocker! I've just never been a fan of their appearance but these are seriously beautiful! I do like a white bristle brush though, despite the fact that they always end up quite mucky looking. The price is a serious bummer. I'd love to read your review once you've given these a whirl as I'm keen to see if they're worth their hefty price tag. It's a shame they're not more purse-friendly as they are a drug store brand after all. Great post xxx

  19. They do say that if you spend the money the brushes should last you an age, (as will the makeup you've applied) so hopefully these brushes are worth it in the long run. I can never find a foundation brush that suits me and always end up using my fingers - maybe the triangle brush could be it...

  20. I do like the Real Techniques brushes but I'm not going to shell out money for these new ones! Way too expensive

  23. I'm definitely picking up the contour brush from RT when I get the chance! I've been wanting a brush like that for awhile, so I'm willing to fork over the money (the Nars Ita brush is at least double the price here in the US, so RT is more affordable). Looking forward to hearing your review!

  28. These brushes look utterly beautiful! Not sure I could bring myself to buy the set though, especially considering Zoeva Luxe complete brush set is almost £40.00 cheaper for 15 brushes - I think I'd get the Zoeva set before these.

    Great post.

  29. I love the look of these brushes, I love the colours and I think they'd really stand out. But personally, I just cannot justify that price tag that is attached.

  30. I've seen a lot of these triangle bridges floating about but don't think I can tear myself away from my beauty blender! I do need the contour brush and crease brush though! And the rose gold makes me want it more haha. If they're good compared to other ones that price then I think they'll be worth it but let's see! x

  31. I must say that no matter how much I want them I am not ready to part with such high amount of money. As you pointed out that with added few pounds I could get myself a Mac or a Nars brush. And to me, if I have to spend more money I'd rather then get something that is truly luxurious.

  32. The brushes are absolutely stunning, and I would be more tempted if it weren't for the price. However, from owning the Core Collection & the Starter set I know that the quality of them is absolutely amazing!

  33. These are beautiful and the quality are amazing! They are a little on the pricey side but I think they will be good long lasting brushes (plus lets not forget they are silver and rose gold - enough to sway me that's for sure) can't wait to get my hands on these! :)

  34. I'm very tempted by the contour brush and the crease brush but they are very expensive so I don't think I'll be buying them any time soon. I love the look of the handles and the white bristles look lovely while they're clean, but I'm not sure how good they'll look once they're covered in product and whether they'll wash up perfect again x
