HELLO AGAIN

About Me

Hello!

I'm Em. I'm a 26 year old Londoner who dislikes early mornings, and has a slight obsession with avocados.

'My Pale Skin' was born in January 2014 as the perfect hobby to distract me from my dreary TV office job, lack of 'real world' social life. It was a safe place to share my beauty discoveries, make friends, and improve my photography. Six months later in June 2014, I started my YouTube channel.

When I created this blog, I had no idea how much it would change my life.

After developing adult acne, in March 2015, I began to share images of myself both with and without makeup on social media. My makeup tutorials went viral, and In July 2015, I posted a video on my YouTube Channel called 'You Look Disgusting' detailing some of the comments I'd received about my appearance.

I wasn't sure anyone would watch it, or how my YouTube subscribers would react. What I didn't expect - was for the whole world to take notice. The film recieved 10 million views in its first week alone, and since then I've worked with major brands, media outlets and trend setters from Kylie Jenner, to L'oreal and BBC.

Thanks for joining me on this crazy adventure, and I hope you stick around.

Em x

  1. Hello! I just wanted to say I like your blog. I appreciate the foundation reviews, as I too am pale. If you are looking for a fall lip color, you may enjoy the Clinique chubby stick in voluptuous violet. I would never have thought twice about it if I had not received it in a gift with purchase, and it is a really beautiful, clear deep plum gloss.

I was diagnosed with HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS (HSV1/2) in 2016 and I tried all possible means to get cured but all to no avail until I saw a post in a health forum about a herbal doctor called DR. OCUSODO from Africa who prepare herbal medicine to cure all kind of diseases including Herpes virus. At first, I doubted if it was real but decided to give it a try. When I contacted this herbal doctor via his email, I explained my predicament to him and he assured me that all will be well. He gave me 100% assurance that my herpes will be cured withing 2 weeks with the help of his herbal medicine. After all preparation has been made and I got the cure, I used it as prescribed by the herbal doctor and after I finished taking the medicine, I went to the hospital to do TEST and to my greatest surprise, I tested negative to Hepatitis B Virus just as he said it will be within 2 weeks of usage. Do not loose hope too soon. 5. You are beautiful. I had tons of acne in my twenties and I wished someone would of told me about Milk of Magnesia. I use Milk of Magnesia in the shower every night with a soft face brush. Then I apply coconut oil and go to sleep. No acne for 5 years. Milk of Magnesia is a buffer, balances your ph and kills bacteria that causes acne, so does coconut oil. I also use milk of magnesia as a primer after I apply my cerave moisturizer with sunscreen, then I pat on some milk of magnesia to soak up oily skin and then put on my makeup. Birth control pills also help because the excess testosterone causes acne and it balances out your hormones. I hope it works for you. I have glowing skin and it works for me in my 40's.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I am an Esthetician and would NEVER put coconut oil on my face or recommend it to anyone. It is considered moderately comedogenic which means it will clog your pores and cause acne. If she were my client I would recommend the following steps:
      1. Do a double cleanse every night. First with something that is going to break down that make-up, dirt and oil. The second cleanse should be a face wash like Murad's Clarifying Cleanser which is designed to kill the acne causing bacteria.
2.STOP PICKING AT YOUR FACE!!! All you are doing is spreading bacteria everywhere (more breakouts) causing inflammation, increasing healing time, and scaring your beautiful face.
3.Clean everything your face comes in contact with at least once a week. I am talking about make-up brushes and pillow cases.
Remember your skin is a complex living organ and it is very important to take care of it.One night of not washing your face properly will undo one month of skincare.

    3. This is such terrible advice. You have given advice knowing absolutely nothing about her skin type, diet or any hormonal imbalances she may have. I highly doubt you are an esthetician and if you are, I hope you are not in practice.
I suffered from terrible acne for years and years, I had scarring all over my cheeks and could never work out why.
I decided to cut out coffee from my diet and the acne stopped within days. Then I started cleansing and moisturising with avocado oil, and eventually changing to moisturising with coconut oil and my face has never looked better. The scars have faded considerably, I don't get acne anymore and I'm always told I'm glowing. Even 2 days after a 48-hour labour on 3 hours sleep.
So go ahead and tell me I should wash my face with acid (AKA Murad's Clarifying Cleanser). People like you should have their qualifications stripped.

  7. Hi! I used to struggle with acne. But after I cut all dairy products (even lactose free stuff) and gluten containing food, my skin is clare. I suggest you try it for 3 months, it might help. Why it might work? If you are intolerent to dairy and gluten then each time you it something containing it your body is suffering from infammation and that can cause the acne.
    Best of luck to you!

    1. i havent eat gluten and milk produkts since years as i know i dont tolerate it and my skin became better though still not perfect. now i cut also rice and mais and i decided not to eat meat just to clean my body and it seems to help. now i wait what happens next, whether my breakups come again. i've read that sweats (high insuline level in blood) cause acne too so i dont eat anything sweatened with sugar, just fruits and not too much of it. (rice, mais, potatoes and bread of all kinds make blood sugar and insuline rise too) cosmetics dont help much i learned. what yu eat is more important.

    2. Probably the casein in milk that does it.

    3. People focus on the outside: washes, creams, environmental triggers, etc. There's nothing quite like the feeling of finally having control over breakouts after discovering the culprit is inside: gluten. It causes an ongoing barrage of sore, red, fluid-y welts. It's mentally exhausting...then one day you get a diagnosis and cut all gluten from your diet. Six weeks later you can't believe the change already showing in your skin...then finally, after so many years...control and clear skin.

I've had skin problems for the longest time, sensitive, dry, eczema, acne.......And I've been bullied for everything....the way I look, dress, skin, being flat chested. But I think the video is an inspiration to others. To see that there are others out there who experience the same type of thing and to see that we all are beautiful in our own way. 15. Bonjour !

Skin reflects inner disorder. Maybe it is hormonal, but it could well be related to something you eat. Try reducing in turns meat, fish, rice, chocolate, etc.. You can take butt cold baths, even if it sounds silly sitting in a large bucket of cold water :-) And before eating, ingest refined green clay to help you digest. Prepare it in a glass of water and mix it with a wooden spoon. You can also do raw green clay masks on your face. Clay is a very good product. It's widespread here in Provence. We have the Argiletz brand here in France and it's a good one. I'm not at all affiliated with them. My mum has used these with success on her when she had stomach troubles and I tried also the clay when I was younger with some spots on my face.

I just watched your 'You Look Disgusting' video and wanted to say how brave and wonderful it was of you to make the film. What a powerful story.

If ever we needed to learn to love ourselves for who we really are, it is now. Thank you for speaking out so strongly. I hope you get over the acne (nutrition could well be the answer, although I'm sure you're already trying that) - but you know what they say: whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. That certainly seems to have worked for you. Bravo! You are a brave, magical, powerful and beautiful human being!

Hugs from Hannah (also in France - your story is on Le Monde's website) xx

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and for being brave and amazing. You should be so proud of yourself. Your videos are empowering. I wish I could have watched it when I was 15, 16 and suffering with low confidence and self esteem and no make up knowledge...

  23. Hi Em! I just watched your "#You look disgusting" video and I'm impressed. You look very, very beautiful without make-up. Also, I think you should make more videos like this one. In September I'm gonna be a freshman (highschool) and yet I have mates who wear tons of make-up at school. At prom they had more make-up on their face than our teachers (let's don't talk about their outfits). My point is let's show these 14-15 years old girls that make-up dosen't mean beauty. Beauty is who you truly are, and society need to understand this. This thing ruins a generations of young, beautiful girls. Instead of staying outside and living their teenage years to the fullest, girls today spend hours in the front of a mirror litteraly painting their faces. It's not healty.
Hope you'll read my message and I hope you'll make a video about this problem. Love you.

  27. I dont know exactly why I am commenting here, I just felt that I could relate to you in a way. When I was younger in my tween years, I too started modeling, but when I told some people that I would start taking lessons, comments such as "so what? Is her zits gonna pop on the runway now?" Or "I thought models were supposed to be pretty." Were some of the many comments that I heard when I started in the sixth grade. My years in elementary school, increasingly became a bit more difficult. I have acne quit bad I would like to state the fact I only have acne on my forehead, upper back near my shoulder and near my collar bones, but people like to make it known. In grade 7 many people made comments, but I tried to ignore them, but in grade 8 they've increased. During PE, we would have to change and the ratio of girls-to-stales wasn't equal. One day I was not as lucky as I had previously been and was rushed to change in front of the other girls who were late as well. I went into a corner so I could try to shield myself from the eyes of others, but as soon as I got my shirt on and stepped towards the mirror to make sure I looked presentable, one girl decided to come right up to me and say "What is that on your chest?!" She said it so loud everyone in the washroom went silent and stared at me. I murmured the fact that it was just acne, but she decided to say "How do you get zits on your boobs?!" just for the fact 1) I had my gym shirt on and my bra under never showing that are of myself and 2) it was only near my collar bone so why she said it like that I don't know. I tried to explain to her that I don't know why, but she just ignored me and tried talking to the other girls there about it. Other occurrences happened, and I remember them all and who said it and what was said. I could never forget what some people have said. Around the end of 8th grade I had endured many comments about myself that no one should have to hear. I did not wear much makeup, bb cream because I'm "so flaky", mascara, and lip balm. My "friends" said it would be easier and that others would think I'm pretty or how boys would like me, if I wore foundation or concealer or powder, but I break out when I wear those things, I have sensitive skin so my face gets irritated by it, and then it gets oily. Through my last 3 years at that school, I lost quite a bit of weight, got put on the "unwanted list", went on acne medication, and realized who my true friends were. That was elementary school, let's hope high schools nicer :/

    1. Omg I'm so sorry for you :'''(. It must had been very hard for you to live like this. I also graduated 8th grade and, as a 15 years- old girl who doesn't wear any kind of make- up (srsy, I really don't), I know how mean can be girls who wear this to the ones who don't. Trough my middle school years I've learnt the fact that if you don't do like the others you will be seen like a wirdo. I was a happy case bc I have a pretty clean skin but I had mates (boys!) with very severe acne. Everyone look at they diffrent and everybody adviced them to go and see a doctor. I saw how ashamed they was when went in public. Everybody looking at you diffrent just bc you have a unwanted skin condition? Terrible. But they went on acne medication and now are looking good. So stay strong, I'm sure you'll make through it and I whis the best for you in highscool (is gonna be a joyfull time for both of us :****!

    2. Great blog and never forget how beautiful you are.
I to used to suffer acne like you and I started using the Miessence Certified Organic Purifying range. After about 4 weeks I really noticed a change. My skin started clearing up. The blemish gel is a wonder product and also a healer without drying out the skin.
The important thing to remember if you are using a skincare regime use the same brand as the brands are made and used to go with each other, if you use a different cleanser to a moisturiser brand so to speak they can react with each other which can cause break outs.

  33. Em I have suffered from acne and blotchy skin for over 5 years, I am a 19 year old male and sometimes the condition of my acne has made me cry, become depressed and especially comments from others at times has made me feel worthless and ugly, I used to have flawless perfect pale skin, and although I would like to say I wish I didn't have acne I can't in fact I thank God (literally) for this blessing of acne, it is through having this painfully visible skin condition that I have changed my lifestyle (eating habits, exercise etc...) and it has taught me to have compassion on others especially anyone with such a visible affliction and most importantly it was brought me to learn to love myself the way God created me and to love the person Jesus is in love with, I want to thank you for posting that video which has just gone crazy (Awesome!) and that you are an incredible beautiful woman with and without makeup, you are beautiful, awesome, courageous and have greatly inspired me!

Jesus is in love with you!!!, Love Michael

  34. It's a translation, I hope you can understand everything, anyway .....
is an ancient war between truth and reality, where both sides lose. only one winner , the only one that remains in the field: yourself. We are still us, we can not afford to question how we are and how we qualify our thoughts in right and wrong. We must always be us, we can not separate us from ourselves. when entrust to others the opinion of yourself you are working in the field of truth but, as you know well, the truth is just the word, message, information. the reality is the criterion that measures the truth between the extremes: being and not being. when you look at the opinion you have of yourself you're in the field of reality, that reality is only what you have . All you are is your reality. If i told you that you are beautiful, very beautiful, able to generate emotions i would say a truth, but it would be an infinitesimal part of yourself. Your beauty is you, a fantastic young woman

    A kiss

People see vulnarability as a weakness, but it is quite the opposite. Allowing yourself to be vulnarable takes extreme courage. The kind you have shown in your video. Through your message and by doing so you probably have connected with a lot of people, which is a feat in itself. Never ever let other people make you doubt about who you are and what you have to say!

Just saw your video posted on Facebook Em...All I can say is this.

    You go girl!

Ignore the haters. There's always going to be people out there, that can't feel better about themselves unless they're dragging others down. Their negativity says more about their flagging egos and self image then it does about those they direct those negative thoughts towards.

Outward beauty fades with time...But a beautiful heart and spirit will always remain, no matter the age. And your beauty shines through your message in the video. Thank you for sharing your message and I'm honored to pass it on to others, so they know they're beautiful too. (((HUGZ)))

So I've learned to be quite the makeup artist like you :D I'm happy that there is good stuff these days to make the face look normal. It should be okay to walk around with no makeup on but for me it's just more selfassuring and fun to put on makeup and feel pretty. Also it takes time and money and planning that those with normal skin just don't understand. Well, we all have our own difficulties and struggles. Just wanted to say that you are a very brave and smart girl for doing this video. And of course corgeous with that bone structure and all.. Wow! :) Haters will be haters... Thank you Em, all the best to you and keep up the good work!

  45. Hi!!
I had a lot of acne when I was in secondary school, peaople where mean to me, and I felt awfull because they always think that you have acné because you don´t take care of yourself but that isn´t true. I used to do everything that my doctor said but the acné never disaper. And It really made me fell insecure and dirty. Now I still have some problems with it, but it isn´t as bad at it was. I am here because I wanted to thank you for your video. Peaple is really mean to you, as they were to me an to many others, but you being so brave give me corage. you´re so beautifull thank you for this...

  46. Dear All

You are beautiful humans regardless whether you use or do not use makeup. Nobody is perfect. Anyone who is making fun of how your looks, exposed the true uglyness of them - the heart. Having acne, is perfectly normal, it's how mother nature works sometimes.

    Take care.

  47. Hi Em, I have suffered from acne since the age of 13 and I am now 33. Just a year ago in an ipsy bag, I received a product from Dr. Lin Skincare. I was skeptical about the product, but I had tried everything else under the sun, so I gave it a try. It has dramatically changed my skin to the point where I only break out a little during PMS. This was unbelievable to me since I had uncontrollable acne for so many years. Because my skin was exactly like yours, I feel compelled to share my story and the link to Dr. Lin's website: http://www.drlinskincare.com/. You are beautiful to matter what critics may say. Wishing you the best!

  48. I'm a decrepit old man of 52 - still with occasional acne! Doesn't bother me, but then, I'm very happy.

All I can say is that what shines about you isn't your face, its your personality and your charm. If my son came to visit us with you on his arm, he'd be extremely lucky and we'd be very happy.

Wear make up, don't wear make up, your call. Never let the world make your decisions for you. You are beautiful regardless. Most importantly, the only opinions that should ever matter to you, are those from whom you have regard. Let the others just wash over you.

I'd wish you luck in life, but you won't need luck.

Em, utterly naked without any make-up, acne and all, sorry to crap all over your detractors, but you are still drop dead gorgeous exactly just as you are with no make-up. We can't believe anybody with physical eyes and any sense of a sane mind would call such a beautiful face as yours, ugly. Truth is, even with a beautiful face, your real beauty is inner...and you have had the courage to address the superficial reckless idiocy of a society so bent on surface beauty that they cannot see past their own worthless opinions. Kudos to you, girl!

Friends out here in the real world, Angelle and Natalie....Shalom always and forever!

  51. I had horrible cystic acne that started at 15, and nothing worked - proactive, better diet and more sleep, birth control pills, a million different acne creams, etc. I was so embarrassed that I never let anyone see me without a full layer of foundation. Finally I went on accutane. After 6 months, I stopped breaking out completely. It's been 3 years and I'm getting the occasional hormonal breakout, but have kept it under control with prescription retin-A and lots of mud masks! It's made me feel much better about myself, but I know I should've been happy from the beginning.

You're beautiful just as you are. And when you do decide to put on makeup, you look just like Margot Robbie with your amazing bone structure. Keep making your amazing videos!

  53. Hello,

I hope that my testimony will bring a solution to some of you.
I had spots constantly up to the age of 44 years. I thus know the subject and the embarrassment or rather the embarrassments

I tried everything too, without result
I wanted to be cured and not to mask with make-up

In 2010 I decided to lose a little of weight.
Eating no meat or delicatessen (witch gives also acne) since 1993, I decided to stop to eat cheese (I am French), big contribution of calories!! Reduce in almost nothing the milk and the butter.

After a few months, I realized that I did not have a spot anymore!

Who says spots, says that the body sends you a message!
And the message was for me to stop totally and definitively the milk under all its forms

That import that to we are told that dairy products are our friends
    I made my choise !

  56. Hi Em, I have very mild acne and although i am aware that many people have it off worse I have also had this along side my eating disorder for almost 10 years. To constantly feel worthless is a daily battle where looking in the mirror brings tears and looking people in they eye becomes a challenge in fear that they are judging you as harshly as you judge yourself. This whole blog makes me feel positive that i can learn to love myself and i just wanted to say thankyou for that, because the everyday struggles are really taking there toll and i just want to accept that i am what i am. Unfortunately it is easier said then done but i'm sure i'll get there. Thankyou for your positive energy. If everyone was like you the world would be a better place and i would feel much less terrified of leaving the house in fear of judgment :)

  58. Wise parable about self-confidence. Please meditate this parable.

One day a wise teacher was visited by a young man who went to him for advice:
    - I come, master, because I feel so little, that I have no strength to do anything. I say no good, I do not do anything right, I'm clumsy and rather silly. How I can improve? What I can do to value me?
The master without looking at him, said:
    - I'm so sorry boy, I can not help you, I solved my own problem. Maybe later ... and pausing added, - if you want help me, I could resolve this issue more quickly and then maybe you can help.
    - E ... happy, young schoolmaster hesitated, but felt it was again devalued and their needs neglected.
-Ok- Teacher nodded. Wearing a ring on the little finger and giving it to the boy removed, he added:
    - Take the horse is out there and ride to the market. I sell this ring because I have to pay a debt. You must obtain for him the greatest amount possible, but do not accept less than a gold coin. Go back to that currency as quickly as possible. The young man took the ring and left. Just arrived, she began offering the ring to the merchants, who looked at him with some interest.
But it was enough to hear the price of the ring; when the young man mentioned the gold coin, some laughing, others were turning your face and only one old man was kind enough to take the trouble to explain that a gold coin was too valuable to give it in exchange for a ring. Someone offered him a silver coin and a pileup of copper, but the boy was instructed not to accept less than a gold coin and rejected the offer.
How the young have wished that gold coin! It could then have given himself the teacher to release their concern and then receive help and advice. Sad, he mounted his horse and went back to where the teacher was:
    - Master said sorry, you can not get what you asked. Maybe I could get two or three silver coins, but do not think I can deceive anyone about the true value of the ring.
    - How important what you said, smiling young friend said the teacher. We must know the true value of the ring. Reassemble and go to the jeweler. Who better than he to know? Tell him you want to sell the ring and ask for it as it gives you. But no matter what you offer, not sell it. Come back here with my ring. The young man returned to ride.
The jeweler examined the ring to the candlelight with his magnifying glass, weighed it and then said:
    - Tell the teacher, boy, if you want to sell now, I can not give more than 58 gold coins for her ring.
    - 58 COINS! - Exclaimed the young.
    - Yes, he replied the jeweler I know that with time he could get for about 70 coins, but do not know ... if the sale is urgent ...
The boy ran home excited to tell the teacher what happened.
    - Sit said the teacher after listening-ring You are like this: A jewel, precious and unique. And as such, you can only evaluate you really an expert. What do you do through life pretending that anyone discover your true value?

  59. I just saw the YouTube video moments ago. My initial reaction moments into the film was, this is a gorgeous woman who just happens to have a bad case of acne. While I am not surprised at the cruelness of some people on social media, I was shocked at those who criticized you for using makeup. What's wrong with makeup? I LOVE makeup!

Do people have any idea how many of our biggest movie stars are "homely" without makeup?? Probably most of them. Whether or not they have acne.

Acne is a treatable condition, both medically and cosmetically. It's silly not to do both or whatever makes you feel good.

And I would gladly wake up next to you anytime!

  62. Hi Em, i came across your story and your acne problems while surfing on the internet. Acne is a very unpleasant skin problem and i feel compassion whenever i see a person with severe acne problems. I know for sure that many people suffer from acne because of certain types of food that cause inflamation in the body. A friend of mine cured his acne problem by completely stopping to consume cow milk and dairy products. Maybe you could give it a shot for a couple weeks or a month and see how it goes. Other types of food that cause inflamation are wheat and other products containing gluten. But i really think it's worth trying to cut on milk and dairy products. Good luck with that! And don't listen to all the haters out there.

  64. Hello Em,

My goodness, dear girl, you are absolutely beautiful. I first heard about your blog by happening upon your video, You Look Disgusting, on Facebook. I must say that I was horrified to see and hear the hateful things that people said to you. I am so very sorry you went through that abuse. I applaud you for being so transparent, so bold, so daring, and so loving. Keep up the fabulous work.

On another note, I would like to speak to you about your acne from an RN perspective, with the hope that I can provide some insight or help. I humbly submit to you that I truly believe there's more going on here than just acne. When I see your face, this is not what most would consider typical acne. It looks more like an infection, which I believe you could very possibly be inadvertently spreading through the use of your brushes and makeup. With that being said, if you've ever taken a microbiology class, bacteria multiply prolifically with very little effort, and can be virulent in areas that we would otherwise consider neutral terrirtory. For example: one little bacterium embedded in a brush, within a few hours can become hundreds of thousands when given the right ingredients. Please hear me, Em. As an RN I deal with infections of many kinds everyday. A few things to consider if you haven't already: I suggest getting the problem areas cultured by a professional dermatologist. You may also want to consider a specialist in the area of infection who can appropriately probe into this problem area a bit deeper and diagnose it correctly. It would be worth your time and effort. Em, I truly believe that you can have flawless skin. But I believe it will require a complete eradication of the bacterium that is causing this infection. Also, if you haven't already, journal your breakout patterns with regard to the areas, where they start, how they progress, heal, etc.

You have a great gift! And you are indeed beautiful. Keep up the great work. I know you're an inspiration to many. I truly hope this advice is helpful to you. God bless you, hon.

    ~E

  65. Reading your blog as really empowered me. I have been battling cystic acne for eleven years now. I have tried everything. Special diets, treatments , multiple dermatology appointments, etc. The truth is it will never go away completely . I have good days and bad days. Today is a bad day, and when my skin is out of control. Usually when this happens I avoid work, going out, seeing anyone in fact! . On my bad days which quickly turn into weeks I do my best to achieve my goals and live my daily life but ....it's hard. Sometimes I just look at my face and cry ,it takes EXTRA strength to get up in the morning. What helps my struggle more than anything is seeing people like you going out and showing us just how beautiful you really out without makeup. If I can see you as beautiful person, then why is it so hard to envision myself in the same way. Seeing you struggle with acne just as I do really makes me feel relieved and less alone. I see that a lot of people post a bunch of remedies on here. There is no right way it will always be a continuing battle for me and others out there. So keep it up, because of people like you getting out of bed on days where my skin is completely out of control takes a little bit of less effort.

Also, for those that don't struggle with acne( I mean really STRUGGLE... )you won't be able to understand mine or anyone's battle with reoccurring acne. It's not your fault it's just impossible. We don't need advice for our skin. We need acceptance and support . Thank you for being braver than me . Best of wishes.

  67. Hi Em,
Just saw your "You look disgusting"video on Facebook and I just wanted to let you know that I am a seventeen year old girl who has the same facial problems as you. It is incredibly heartbreaking to see girls of your so perfect, with everyone around praising their beautiful features, amazing contours, perfect skin while you're the only one entering the college premises with a face hurriedly washed in the morning that is looked down upon .I am a scholarship student at one of the leading institutions of my country, achieved gold medals, got 6A*s and 2 As in my O'levels ;yet, a beauty complex kills me every single morning. It has worsened since the past two years and has devastated me eversince. I cannot stop crying on this yet the people around me continue to comment on my nose, chapped lips and eyes that are not as attractive as girls "should' have. They ceaselessly joke about my figure and compare me to the other girls wearing tonnes of make-up, inevitably looking flawless! These people are none other but my friends and siblings. This one bloody beauty complex has pushed me to isolation and has forced me to seek make-up tips etc on youtube rather than watching videos that actually interest me.I feel like a failure when they comment on me. I have lost my peace and livelihood and pushed into a world of depression and comparisons where I have no identity. I am getting Cs in my A levels mock exams and with that,I am losing my aspirations and hopes for the future, of getting into a top university. All I would like to do right now is to thank you for the splendid job that you've done, something that no-one but somebody as strong as you could have done. This has really helped if not completely put me out of the situation that I am stuck in.
Love you to the moon and back <3
    You are my inspiration.

I just want to tell you, that you are beautiful, no matter what! You have beautiful eyes and lips and amazing long hair and I don't even care about your skin and if you wear make-up or not, you will always be perfect in my eyes!! do whatever you want and whatever makes you feel comfortable!

  74. Hi,Emily! My name is Costi, I'm a man and as a man I'm telling you with all my heart that you are truly(phisically speaking) more beautiful without makeup, you have really fine, beautiful facial features.
I'm not going to be a hypocrite and tell you I like acne, but even with acne I still find you beautiful and cute and I'm sure that just by letting your skin breathe(not covering it with makeup) and expose it to the sun, you will see significant improvements.
I, myself have acne on my back and in the summer when I expose my back to the sun and let the skin breathe it disappears almost completely, but during winter when I have to stay clothed it comes back again.
Just remember, I would find you beautiful and cute without make up any day and even more so, I find that by wearing makeup you not only hide your acne, but even your true natural beauty.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! (believe me, I was told I have good tastes)

  75. DEAR BEAUTIFUL EM,
These are the facts...You have a lovely bone structure (those cheekbones!) and a beautifully-shaped face, such pretty big blue eyes, and a cupid's bow mouth. God has blessed you with these lovely features. The fact that you have some acne right now is true, but it doesn't take away from the beautiful features of your face. I think someone should have found the cure for acne already, it's no fun to have. I had cystic acne from the age of 16 to about 40. I called it "terminal acne". The dermatologist recommended several rounds of antibiotics( which left me with a damaged immune system). Then I went thru a round of ACCUTANE which I wouldn't recommend to anyone! It dried out the skin on my face and hands and eyes so bad I couldn't wear my contacts any more. So there I was... four- eyes and still with acne, too! Well, it "burned out" most of the acne on my face, but then I broke out in other places... especially my neck...awful!!! but I had to stop using it because of the other symptoms. Later I was diagnosed with IBS which I think was caused by the accutane. What ended up working for me was going to an esthetician and getting facials. She specialized in skin problems, such as acne. She was wonderful!!! She cleared up my acne, she recommended products for my extremely sensitive skin (which I didn't know I had) and gave me microdermabrasions and "peels" to clear up my acne scars. So there is hope. As far as the make-up issue is concerned, people are so superficial and judgemental, you kinda need it to survive the acne years. At least girls have it easier because we CAN wear make- up... I pity the guys! I compare make- up to wearing a cast when you break your arm. When your arm is healed you don't need it... or not so much of it, anyway. Stay the strong, sensitive woman you are and you will triumph in life. Blessings!

  78. Hello!

I'm 18 years old and I understand what you are going through. I think what you have done is very powerful and inspiring. And I'd love to tell you my own experience. However mine doesn't have to deal with make up. Mine has to deal with hair.

When I was younger, my hair was slightly wavy. I loved it. And no one made fun of it. But once I hit puberty, my hair became dry and frizzy. Everyone always told me that there was products that I could use to help. (Most of them didn't). I tried everything I could to get them to like me. To get everyone else to like me first before I started to like myself.

Finally I decided to get a Brazilian blowout. No surprise here: Everyone wanted to be my friend. I mean everyone. Everyone wanted to talk to me. Everyone wanted to hangout with me. And honestly, I loved it at first. But after a while I realized just how fake every "friend" I got was. Because the moment I stopped bothering to straighten my hair (with a blowout, you have to re straighten your hair after you shower) all of the friends started to disappear. Leaving me wondering why I put so much faith in them.

I love what you have done.

Thank you. It really opens up my eyes.

You take any negative energy and turn it straight into something positive. I love makeup I'm completely passionate about it and i'd love to give advice and write reviews to give people good indication of what makeup is best.

Ive recently started my own blog, i wanted to start one a very long time ago but was always afraid that people would judge me or 'take the mick' out of me for starting one.

The way you blog and handle things completely inspired me, i would love to be like you, so I'm taking what I've always wanted to do in my own hands in order to inspire people the way you inspired me. I am 18 years old and always been confused as to what i want as a career, but i have always always hoped that i would be able to inspire people or brighten someone's day.

It was really important that this was the case. She like you was beautiful, but exhausted with battling against acne. Take a look, the benefits upon her skin were just beginning but upon her wellbeing and self confidence they were great!

  96. Hi,

I can really sympathize with the adult acne. I had it very badly from about 18-26. Strangers used to come up to me and make unsolicited comments, and I always used to hear things like "but you could be so beautiful". I guess it is true that skin is the first thing people see. I think the most hurtful comment was from an anonymous stalker (yes really) who used to make random creepy phone calls. He got offended that I was not paying attention to him, and on his last call he told me that he wasn't going to call me anymore because I had a skin problem. For some reason that hit me more than other people's comments.

  98. I never thought that i will ever have a normal life again thinking I'll never get out of this situation in my whole life but i was wrong. My story goes thus:
I found this contact: oseweagbonifo@gmail.com in a post i followed on facebook, I contacted him because i read about how he cure a woman of ALS and that he have herbal remedy for HIV, cancer, yeast infection e.t.c. I told him all he needed to know about my herpes status and he told me not to worry that he will help me and he did.
I received my healing after 14 days of using his herbal remedy. my lost joy came back alive as there is no more outbreak, no symptoms, no fear of transmitting the virus to my love ones. Now I'm in a relationship and my sex life is awesome.
All these happened a year ago and I decided to keep silent because I wanted to be sure of the healing. Now I break the silence as I have undergo series of medical check up and all results came out negative.
This doctor never asked me to advertise him but I see it as my little way of showing appreciation to him for his wonderful did in my life
