Although I've known about the Clinique Chubby Stick range for quite a while, I've never actually added any to my collection - that was until Glamour magazine had them as free gifts with a copy of the magazine this summer. The blogging world went crazy when news of these samples hit twitter and everyone rushed out to grab some whilst they could. The full size Chubby Stick retails at £17.00 each and compared to the magazine price of £2.00 it's easy to see why they all flew of the shelves.
I had the best intentions after buying these to test them, blog about them and wear them, but I have to admit... I totally forgot all about their existence until recently. I bought them, photographed them and threw them into the 'to blog about' drawer and It was only whilst I was looking for another product that I found them and gave them a shot.
Having never tried a chubby stick before, I had no idea what to expect from them in terms of colour and I have to admit, I didn't expect them to be so sheer. But when you apply them to the lips, the colour seems to apply more evenly and provides a hint of colour that is enough to give a light touch to the lips as a perfect 'grab and go' lipstick.
As the chubby sticks are a balm like formula, they feel incredibly soft and moisturizing on the lips. The colour lasts a few hours and fades in an even way, meaning no colour splodges, and as they twist up in the tube, you don't need to sharpen them.
I'm so glad I 'shopped my stash' and found these chubby sticks. As 'free gifts' they were an absolute bargain. Would I pay full price for them? For Super Strawberry, I would. It's a beautiful rosy red that works as an everyday lipstick and balm wonderfully. However Woppin' Watermelon which is more of a light pink, hasn't quite won me over yet - I'm not sure if it's worth the full £17.00 price tag and I can't help but feel that a cheaper tinted balm would give the same colour and moisturized feeling.
I'd like to add a full size chubby stick to my collection, and would love to hear which shades you'd recommend! Let me know in the comments...

I was SO excited to receive the Super Strawberry crayon in my magazine - it was the one I wanted so it was really good luck to get it as I subscribe and get no choice in the matter - but I was sooo disappointed when I tried it! I felt there was literally no colour payoff, and whilst it felt nice I have lip balms that feel just as nice for a quarter of the RRP. Not for me, and never for the full price sadly! xxx

What a bargain! I hate not living in the UK and missing out on all the fab magazine freebies! I have the Chubby Stick in Bountiful Blush. I know the colour payoff on some of the balms aren't great, but I love the shade I chose. You can see it over on my blog - Effortlessly Excessive. xxx
ReplyDeleteI got so excited when I found out Glamour had free samples of the Chubby Sticks but found it *so* hard to get my hands on them! (All the magazines seemed to have the free moisturiser/mascara!) I ended up finding the Super Strawberry colour though, and I cannot wait to give it a go! (I seem to have forgotten about it too - whoops!!!)

I think that a much prefer super strawberry as well. I actually really like the fact that they are quite sheer, I don't have any sheer lip products so I think these would be a nice addition to my lip product collection! I'm also still kicking myself that I missed that issue of Glamour Magazine!!!!!!

I have the one in Voluptuous Violet and love it. I also got it as a gwp and would never have chosen it otherwise. It is a perfect mlbb color for me. I am also super pale, but with dark hair.
