Urban Decay Announce Naked 2 Basics!

One palette I have used more than any other that I own has to be the Naked Basics Palette. As far as every day make up goes, a day hasn't gone by that I haven't used it since receiving it as a gift. I've hit pan on more than one shade and before I picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade, I used the shades Naked 2 and Faint on my brows every day without fail. 

I didn't think it was possible but it seems that Urban Decay have created the perfect cool toned neutral palette. Filled with 6 luscious matte Taupe and Mauve shades. It's a cool toned girls dream... and it may even get some use for fine contouring with shade primal looking like a great shadowy shade that would work on my skin.

I don't think i've ever been so excited for a new release, and apart from the clunky name, (Naked 2 Basics?? C'mon Naked Basics 2 sounds better) there's nothing I'd change about it. 

Needless to say that when launch day comes around... i'll be there in the queue to grab this little gem.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - 07 Nude-ist Review!

I'm a massive fan of nude lips and when I heard Bourjois had released a Nude shade in their Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipstick line - I jumped at the chance to try out the Rouge Edition Velvet Nude-ist lipstick*.

There are eight shades in the Rouge Edition Velvet line, and I've previously reviewed Frambourjoise. One of the things I love about these lipsticks is how easy they are to apply. They go on like a gloss with a wand applicator and I kinda like that. I find that this gives me so much more control over the product and how it applies. 

Let's talk about the colour. In my swatch you can see that applied heavily it's on the sort of reddish pink end of the nude spectrum. However, applied in a light even coat, it is much more of an every day nude shade, although a darker nude than I usually wear on a daily basis it's one which has just enough colour to make a statement without being too fancy for an every day look at work.

Considering I live in nude lipsticks, I was surprised to see that I didn't already own  shade similar to this one, so It has rightfully filled a spot in my lipstick caddy.

The only downside with these lipsticks is that I find in order to get a strong even colour, you need to apply twice in thin layers - as you can see in the image above, one layer just isn't quite enough to get it perfect sometimes. These matte shades aren't heavily drying, but I would advise exfoliating and priming your lips with lip balm an hour or so before applying. This will ensure that your lips are starting in tip top condition which will help the colour to apply and set evenly.

Overall, I love this shade. If you're looking for a Kylie Jenner style lipstick on the high street, then this is likely the product for you. Team it with a slightly darker lip liner for a a true 90's look!

Blogger Basics #1 - Blogger Business Cards

Welcome to the first of my new series 'Blogger Basics', In this series, I'm hoping to show you some of my 'must haves' for blogging, and I'm starting with one of the things I've found to be invaluable over the past few months - business cards.

I had my business cards printed earlier this year, not long after I'd first started blogging and I made sure to order them to arrive in time for the first Bloggers Love Fashion Week.

It took me a while - (about 4 hours) and a little design help from my partner, but I finally settled on a design I  was happy with. I wanted my cards to be the perfect reflection of my blog which meant using the same font & colour scheme.

When I first designed my cards, I had my mobile number, bloglovin, google + a few other sites on there. It didn't read well, it looked horribly clunky and I just wasn't in love with how they looked.

When I really thought about it, there were only really 3 pieces of information i'm constantly asked for on a frequent basis:

1. Blog Name/ URL

2. Email

3. Twitter

If someone has those 3 pieces of information, and you've correctly back linked yourself on all your social platforms, they can find everything they need to know.

I opted for mini cards rather than full size cards as I find them conversation pieces that are not only incredibly useful for networking, but super cute at the same time. They also take up less space in my purse/handbag which is always a bonus as those receipts have to fit somewhere!.

I ordered 200x Business cards,a key ring business card holder and rush printing (2 day turnaround!) they came to the grand total of £43.04 However, If I'd planned ahead slightly more, It would have been possible to get them much cheaper.  By planning in advance you don't need to fork out extra for rush delivery and fret about if they'll arrive time the week before the event (like I did).

The more blogger events I attend and people I meet, the more I find it useful as a blogger to have business cards. Not only is it a step up for you as blogger, and everything suddenly becomes a bit more real, they are a great tool If you get shy or nervous around large groups of new people like I do. You may find it easier to just hand a business card to someone and run away than to explain everything about who you are, what you do, what your blog is called.

I'm so happy with my cards, and I've made a big dent in my boxes by handing them out as and when I can. I think when I get my next batch printed I'll be sure to add my YouTube channel link, but otherwise keep them exactly as they are!

My 100th Blog Post!

I can't believe i'm writing this, but this is the 100th post on My Pale Skin. I started this blog at the end of January as a creative outlet, a hobby and after some persuasion by some make up obsessed online friends. The past 7 months have flown by, and I find it crazy how much of a whirlwind it has been. I've made new friends, been to some incredible events, bought products I never knew I needed, upped my photography game, improved my confidence, and most importantly I've had fun.

I've started a YouTube channel, worked with some great brands, learnt how to use Instagram, hauled, created tutorials, tweeted over 5000 times. I've had 50,000 people see what I look like without make up on (scary) and as cliche as it sounds, I feel like I've grown as a person.

I've loved every minute of blogging, which is probably a good thing as it takes up nearly every minute of my spare time and I'm excited for the future of My Pale Skin. I'm working to improve it and better it every day.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to those of you who not only inspired me to create this blog, but for reading, supporting, encouraging me and welcoming me into the blogging community.

I look forward to the next 100 posts, meeting new people and learning new skills. I'm always interested in honest feedback, and would love to hear what you'd like to see more - or less of in the future. So if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them in the comments.
