July Favourites!

Saturday, 2 August 2014

my pale skin, blog, em ford, pale skin blog

July has been a month of many things for My Pale Skin. It's my first month of posting every single day, I've started a YouTube Channel! I've hauled, swatched and posted some of my top tips for blogging confidence on a weekly basis. I've learnt so much, made some new friends and found some amazing new products which have made their way into my everyday look - and I'm wearing each and every one of them in the image above.

Here the products I tried, tested and fell in love with during July.

Nars sheer glow, pale skin, siberia, swatch, review, my pale skin, blogger

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Siberia. I'd been after this foundation for what seemed like forever. It was always sold out when i've tried to purchase it, but I finally got my hands on it in July and I am so pleased I did.

BY TERRY, ombre blackstar, eyeshadow, frozen quartz, misty rock, swatch, dupe, review, haul

By Terry Ombre Blackstar Eyeshadow in Frozen Quartz A semi impulse buy which I was actively encouraged to pick up by some of my fave beauty bloggers on twitter. At £28.00 it isn't cheap, but my gosh is it amazing.

Anastasia beverly hills, taupe, dipbrow pomade, medium brown, review, swatch

Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade in Taupe Another product I'd been craving for a very long time. I finally took the plunge and ordered 2 of them from Cult beauty. I've been using it a week, and It has changed my brow life.

bourjois shine edition lipstick, bourjois, review, nude lips, pale skin, my pale skin, shade 26

Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick - 26 is the perfect 'my lips but better' shade. I've fallen in love, madly and deeply with this lipstick and I've been wearing it non stop.

If you're stuck in a make up rut, I recommend every one of these products. I'm so happy to have picked them up, as they have been game changers for me this month!

So that's it for this months, favourites post! Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to hear what products you fell in love with in July, maybe I'll pick them up in August! Let me know in the comments...

There's only one way to begin this first impression post and that is to simply say, I ADORE this eyeshadow.  The BY TERRY Ombre Blackstar eyeshadow in Frozen Quartz packs a hefty price tag and at £28.00 it's not cheap by anyone's standards, but on first impressions I'm in love.

In Space NK, I swatched 3 different shades on the back of my hand, took a picture and uploaded to Twitter as I was having trouble deciding which to purchase. I read through the replies and then decided to try and rub the swatches off - they didn't budge. So I grabbed the hand sanitiser... nope, still there... these shadows took about 2 squirts of sanitiser and some surgical spirit to get off my hand with an awful lot of rubbing! The persistence of the swatch vs remover made me gasp. I was immediately impressed.

I also love how effortless it is to apply. It's a one swipe wonder and by finishing with a little smudge of your finger, you're good to go. It may seem crazy to spend so much money on one colour, but when you try them you'll understand why.

The Ombre Blackstar Eye shadows definitely have some fantastic staying power - even after a long day at work, they're still there.

After the first couple of days, I love this product... but stay tuned for an in depth review when I get to know it a little better.

Sometimes, a little retail therapy is just the pick me up I need, so on Monday I headed to Space NK for a browse and to buy some Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. Believe it or not, this was actually my first ever Nars Purchase!

I feel like such a fraud as a beauty blogger saying that, but for some reason, Nars has always been one of those brands that I've never actually managed to add to my collection, but not for the want of trying. I must have the worst luck, as a few weeks ago I went into 4 different stores and called around but nowhere had the Siberia Sheer Glow in Stock. After calling the store on and discovering it was back in, I made sure I headed there to pick it up. At £31.00 It's one of the priciest foundations I've purchased, but I'm hoping it will be worth every penny as I've read so many great reviews about it.

However... that wasn't the only thing I came home with!

Monday afternoon, I mentioned on twitter that I had been lusting after one of the By Terry, Ombre Blackstar Eyeshadow Sticks but at £28.00 for a single eye shadow, I wasn't sure if I wanted it enough to justify the price tag. Upon posting this to twitter, let's just say my news feed got a little hectic, with tweets flooding in half gasping at the price to half telling me to buy it. I soon discovered that twitter is full of bad spending influences! Here are a few of my favourite tweets from some enablers...

Remind me never to actually go shopping with that lot in person as I'd be bankrupt before I even step foot into the shops!

Even though it has the most difficult packaging in the world to photograph, i'm so in love with my Frozen Quartz, By Terry Ombre Blackstar Eye Shadow already, and I'm so glad the girls encouraged me to buy it, because it's one of the best purchases I've made in a while. I'm looking forward to trying it out and sharing the results with you all!

Have you tried any of the By Terry Ombre Blackstar eyeshadows?? Let me know in the comments...

The Lust List! - February Edition.

Thursday, 20 February 2014

em Ford, meddy ford, blogger, model, my pale skin, mypaleskinblog, glamour model, pale skin, my pale skin, youtube, blogger

Hey lovelies, so I've decided i'm going to post a lust list every month! Hurrah!

It's going to be full of products which I'm dying to get my grubby little paws on. I've bought a fair amount of drugstore products this month, most of which i'm yet to even try, and I haven't even begun to buy half the mid-high end make up I would like!

Here's the list that will end up breaking my bank...

  1. Naked 3 Palette
  2. Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, Black.
  3. Kevyn Aucoin, The Celestial Powder
  4. By Terry, Touche Veloutee Concealer
  5. Lorac Pro Palette
  6. Nars Blush in Day Dream
  7. Laura Mercier Secret Concealer
  8. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta
  9. Kevyn Aucoin Beauty The Sensual Skin Enhancer
And now for the scary part... the collective cost of all of these products is

 £270.00

or $450.00

I think a trip to Space NK and Liberty is in order to work out what I need, and what I can live without...
I am meant to be saving up to get my teeth done after all...

Which of these products have you used? What do you rate? What do you hate?
