I fell in love with Margot Robbie just that little bit more when I saw her make up at The Oscars this year. I knew that if there was one 2015 Oscars makeup look i'd be recreating it was hers. I'd read online somewhere that apparently Margot wore the Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in Raven to the ceremony and although I'd tried 4 different Space NK stores, I couldn't get my hands on that gorgeous orangey red shade. Instead I opted for a drugstore alternative with the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet- Hot Pepper Lipstick. I never usually wear orange toned lipsticks, or red lipsticks at all really, which usually tends to make me feel that little bit more glam when I'm go for it.

Acne Coverage, Date Night Make Up Tutorial!

Wednesday, 25 February 2015

As many of you know, I'm suffering with 'adult acne' at the moment. It's one of those dreaded things that makes you feel so bad every time you look in the mirror, and It's safe to say that I've had my fair share of sleepless nights over it.

I get asked on an almost daily basis which foundations and concealers are the best for pale skin tones, and this series is going to explore all different types of  products from varying brands and at all price levels which will hopefully help you to make a decision on which foundation and concealer is right for you!

In universal skin tone terms.. I struggle to find a product that suits me. I'm on the hunt for a product that will be the perfect fit for My Pale Skin.

Product: L'oreal Paris True Match Touch Magique Concealer - Ivory Beige

Price: £8.19

Packaging:  The Concealer has a built in brush applicator, with a twist bottom that brings the product up through the brush. It has a pretty secure lid that clicks shut.

Coverage: I'd say that the product gives a medium coverage which is build-able.

Colour:  There are six shades in the range with Ivory Beige being the lightest cool toned product. It applies fairly yellow on the skin as it's designed to be used as a 'brightening' concealer which can mask and brighten up dark circles.

Finish:  I found the finish to be dewy. It applies evenly, without looking 'cakey'.

Final Verdict:  I wasn't expecting a whole lot with this L'oreal concealer as i'm so used to being disappointed by drugstore offerings shade wise. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised by this offering. I mea like i'm really loving this concealer at the moment. I'm wearing it every day!  It applies extremely easily, blends seamlessly and masks dark circles. The ivory beige is a light yellow shade that is perfect for cooler toned skin tones. I'm super happy to say that the L'oreal Paris True Match Touch Magique Concealer has PASSED the pale test (on my skin) and has well and truly made it's way into my make up bag.

As Always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this concealer or what you'd like me to try next, let me know in the comments.

I've been wanting to switch up my base product routine for quite a while now and this week It would appear that I was on a bit of an accidental haul mission!

It all started on Monday, when I had an important client meeting at work. I rushed to the other side of London in a cab with my boss, only to get there super early - which was super frustrating, especially as I left my phone in the office. Whilst walking to the meeting, and realizing how early we were - I noticed a Space NK, so popped in to get a new Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. That counts as work right?

Next up was Mac. On Tuesday whilst waiting for a colleague to arrive at Kings Cross Station, I popped into Mac. I honestly wish every train station had a Mac store... like can you imagine?? From Mac I bought the Mineralize Moisture Foundation in shade NC15 and also a Studio Finish Concealer in NC15

Finally, on Valentines Day, I headed over to Kensington High Street to do a weekly food shop in Wholefoods. On the way I passed the Guru Make Up Emporium which I'd heard so so much about online! I popped in and picked up the Ben Nye Neutral Face Set Powder. I really wanted the banana powder, but they only had it in pressed and I just wasn't feeling it, so I thought i'd start my Ben Nye collection off with a translucent powder. I also picked up the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Concealer in Y0 because I'd been dying to try something from the brand for what seems like forever and thought a concealer would be a good place to start before I jump in to the lip tar world.

So those are the base products I've bought this week. Have you tried any of them before? Would love to hear your thoughts! And if you wanted to check out a sneaky peek of the swatches - head on over to my Instagram

Pale Skin Friendly, Christmas Party Make Up!

Saturday, 20 December 2014

This week I've had a chance to create some make up looks and really have fun with make up, more than I have done in the past few months. It's amazing how motivated you can be and how much fun you can have with make up when you're not rushing to go anywhere or constantly aware of the clock.
I've had time off this week and i've finally been able to relax, de-stress and just spend time doing things that I want to, without worrying about what time it is -  which is incredibly rare.

Red Lipstick isn't a colour I usually wear on a day to day basis. Truth be told, it frightens me. I'm scared of wearing red lipstick with my bleach blonde hair because I just can't help but feel a little over done. Colour scares me, and even though I'm trying really hard to get out of my nude make up rut - I'm not quite sure i'm ready to make a red an every day wear just yet - even though the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - Hot Pepper* I'm wearing is the most gorgeous shade of red I think I've worn in a very long time.

If  you'd like to recreate this look, here's everything you need to know:

Contour: NYX Taupe Blush
Eyeshadow: MUA Undress Me Too palette - for bronze/golds / Make Up Revolution Salvation Palette  - for transition shades
Mascara: Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
EyelashesTotal Minks - not sure which ones*

As always I'd love to hear your thoughts on this look! Let me know in the comments.

I've really gotten into 'halo' smokey eyes over the past couple of weeks and wanted to share with you a tutorial on a look i've been wearing quite a lot recently. I fell in love with the Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs Palette and couldn't resist trying something special with it.

I've really missed making videos for my channel and I'm hoping to be posting more from now on! As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this look! Let me know in the comments and don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube Channel

Concealers For Pale Skin: Pale Test #10 Make Up Revolution Cover & Conceal - Light

I get asked on an almost daily basis which foundations and concealers are the best for pale skin tones, and this series is going to explore all different types of  products from varying brands and at all price levels which will hopefully help you to make a decision on which foundation and concealer is right for you!

In universal skin tone terms.. I'm an NC15 in Mac. However, Mac isn't really doing it for me at the moment, so i'm on the hunt for a replacement that will be the perfect foundation for My Pale Skin.

Product: Make Up Revolution Ultra Cover & Conceal Palette - Light

Price: £6.00 for 8 shades

Packaging:  The Make Up Revolution Ultra Cover & Conceal Palette comes in a large plastic palette with a full size lid mirror built in.

Coverage: I'd say that the product gives a light- medium coverage.

Colour:  There are eight varying shades in the palette from an almost white shade to a dark sand.

Finish:  I found the finish of these concealers to be quite dewy on the skin and in need of setting as they seemed fairly 'creamy' aka slippery.

Final Verdict: I can't remember the last time I seriously wished a product to be good until I bought this palette. It was all going so well... until the swatches. Out of 8 shades, personally I'd only use two shades. Number 1 and Number 5.
Unfortunately the majority of the remainder shades are more on the beige and sand spectrum which are far too warm for my NC15 skin.
By using shades 1 and 5, it's possible to brighten the under eye area and cover any blemishes.
In terms of contouring with the darker shades, as they are very warm, I'd recommend that you be wary of these shades if you aren't using them in daylight, as yo may get a few surprises. Sadly, as only 2/8 shades are suitable... the Make Up Revolution Conceal & Contour Palette - Light has FAILED the pale test.

As Always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this concealer or what you'd like me to try next, let me know in the comments.

It's official, the berry lip is the must have shade this Autumn, and after my little Lipstick Haul on Monday, I wanted to show you that you don't have to break the bank to keep up with the current make up 'trends' especially if you have pale skin like me and are slightly afraid of colour.

I'm much more prone to splashing out on 10 budget products for fun than spending £40 on one full priced one and that's likely due to my hoarding nature - one lipstick is just not enough for me as sometimes I want to buy all of the things and of course without spending a fortune. If that's case for you then brands such as Make Up Revolution, MUA cosmetics and Collection are perfect for those instances.

The Rebel With A Cause Lipstick has a satin finish, although it is on the more slippery side of satin, which means that my advice on this shade is to go for 2 layers, ensuring that you blot in between to make enhance longevity.

Whether you're looking for a starter berry lip, are a keen bargain hunter or are just looking for a new shade to try out. for £1.00 you can't go wrong with Rebel With A Cause and I have a feeling It'll be on my lips quite often this autumn.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the berry lip trend! Let me know in the comments...

Concealers For Pale Skin: Pale Test #9 - Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

I get asked on an almost daily basis which foundations and concealers are the best for pale skin tones, and this series is going to explore all different types of  products from varying brands and at all price levels which will hopefully help you to make a decision on which foundation and concealer is right for you!

In universal skin tone terms.. I'm an NC15 in Mac. However, Mac isn't really doing it for me at the moment, so i'm on the hunt for a replacement that will be the perfect foundation for My Pale Skin.

Product: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer - Chantilly

Price: £22.00

Packaging:  The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer comes in a sturdy plastic tube with a matte black twist lid. For application the product comes with a Doe Foot applicator.

Coverage: I'd say that the product gives a medium - full coverage.

Colour:  Shade Chantilly is the lightest of the range. It's a yellow under toned pale concealer and quite possibly the lightest base product I've come across in a very long time. I may have let out a little squeal when I swatched it for the first time.

Finish:  I found the Radiant Creamy Concealer gives an almost satin finish. It's not quite matte, and certainly not dewy, but simply the best of both worlds. Once blended it gives a beautiful natural finish that covers imperfections and dark circles.

Final Verdict: It's official. I'm in love. The Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer has PASSED the pale test with flying colours. I love everything about this concealer and let me just start by telling you about the colour. I never thought I'd see the day where I had to circle around a swatch of concealer because you can't tell where it's applied. Not only is the colour spot on, but it blends out beautifully and gives the most natural diffused appearance. I thought the collection Lasting perfection concealer was good until I tried this one, and I was simply blown away at how incredible this product is. Although it's fairly pricey at £22.00, It's so worth every penny and if you have pale skin like me - hunt it down and give it a swatch as It's an absolute game changer for me.

As Always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this concealer or what you'd like me to try next, let me know in the comments.
