As you guys may know, I'm a huge fan of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet line and when I saw they had a new shade being released I was super excited,The Rouge Edition Velvet - Happy New Year* Lipstick - £8.99 is a gorgeous nude shade which has a pinky hue to it. Think of it as a 'my lips but better' product that's suitable for all seasons.

As usual, the texture of these lip products does not disappoint. They apply wet, and then dry into a velvety smooth texture. I find the formula doesn't dry out my lips and the colour lasts for hours through food and drink and fades naturally - without leaving that dreaded 'lipstick ring' aroun the outer edges of your lips.

I like to apply the product using the doe foot applicator and then roll a clean finger over it to ensure that it's evenly distributed and to give it a subtle barely there look.

Overall, it's a great product and one that I'll certainly be reaching for throughout Autumn and beyond.

Have you tried any of the Rouge Edition Velvet line? Which one is your favourite?

If you're looking for a deep matte lipstick, then the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet* Lipstick in Grand Cru might just be the product for you!
I have to say that I love how easy these lipsticks are the apply. They go on like a gloss and dry to a beautiful matte shade which isn't drying, but actually does feel like velvet on your lips. However, I would recommend the use of a lip liner to be worn with this shade to make sure you get a sharp edge around your lips as I did find it hard to get a clean line as the product is so dark against my pale skin.

The Grand Cru is a new addition to the Rouge Velvet Line, and it's deep tones make for a perfect date night lipstick. I think this shade would look gorgeous with a sleek ponytail and a little black dress.

I look forward to experimenting with it and seeing what looks I can create with it!
Where would you wear this shade? Let me know in the comments.

There's something about Pink lipstick that has me reaching for it on an almost daily basis and the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet* in Pink Pong is a shade that is most welcome in my collection.

What I like about the Rouge Edition Velvet line is how easy they are to apply. They go on like a gloss, and dry like a lipstick which saves time, effort and also means no fiddly lip liner if you have cat paws for hands like me in the morning.

I just love how a bold pink lipstick stands out against pale skin, and this gorgeous fuchsia shade matched perfectly with my flower crown for a simple, minimal effort summer look.

With a toned down eye, this lipstick is enough to make a statement during the day but if you pair if with a thick black wing, you get a new bold twist on a modern classic look.

I'm such a fan of these Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks and so far, with every one i've tried I've been more and more impressed!

Pink Pong will certainly be making its way into my go to collection and I look forward to pairing it with more looks and sharing them with you.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this lipstick! Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet - 07 Nude-ist Review!

Sunday, 10 August 2014

I'm a massive fan of nude lips and when I heard Bourjois had released a Nude shade in their Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipstick line - I jumped at the chance to try out the Rouge Edition Velvet Nude-ist lipstick*.

There are eight shades in the Rouge Edition Velvet line, and I've previously reviewed Frambourjoise. One of the things I love about these lipsticks is how easy they are to apply. They go on like a gloss with a wand applicator and I kinda like that. I find that this gives me so much more control over the product and how it applies.

Let's talk about the colour. In my swatch you can see that applied heavily it's on the sort of reddish pink end of the nude spectrum. However, applied in a light even coat, it is much more of an every day nude shade, although a darker nude than I usually wear on a daily basis it's one which has just enough colour to make a statement without being too fancy for an every day look at work.

Considering I live in nude lipsticks, I was surprised to see that I didn't already own  shade similar to this one, so It has rightfully filled a spot in my lipstick caddy.

The only downside with these lipsticks is that I find in order to get a strong even colour, you need to apply twice in thin layers - as you can see in the image above, one layer just isn't quite enough to get it perfect sometimes. These matte shades aren't heavily drying, but I would advise exfoliating and priming your lips with lip balm an hour or so before applying. This will ensure that your lips are starting in tip top condition which will help the colour to apply and set evenly.

Overall, I love this shade. If you're looking for a Kylie Jenner style lipstick on the high street, then this is likely the product for you. Team it with a slightly darker lip liner for a a true 90's look!

Have you tried any of the Rouge Edition Velvet Shades? Which should I try next?? Let me know in the comments.

As a massive fan of a matte lip, I was super excited to try out the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick in Frambourjoise*! I'd been wanting to introduce some colour into my life and having been lucky enough to receive a few of these in a goody bag at an event, I made sure I got stuck in and gave it a go.

There are eight shades in the Rouge Edition Velvet line, and the lipsticks have a lightweight texture and provide an intense colour pay off. One of the things I really like about the them is that they're a sort of lipstick/gloss hybrid. They apply like a gloss with the wand applicator and dry to a vibrant matte finish like a lipstick.

I find the best way to apply for an even coverage is to apply in two layers. I apply one layer, and run a clean finger over it to make sure it's evenly distributed and then go back in with the wand to seal the deal. Be warned, it is a bit of a stainer on the lips so if you go outside your lip line or smooth it out with your finger, make sure you clean that up sooner rather than later.

In terms of wear-ability, I find the colour works well with my pale skin tone, and i'll even go as far to say that I've found my new red.

It's certainly one i'll be adding to my main collection, and when I build up the courage to wear more bright lipsticks out of the house, this will be one i'll be reaching for.

Have you tried any of the Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Let me know in the comments.

Learning to Love Colour!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipstick Frambourjoise Pale Skin Swatch My Pale Skin Red Lipstick

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Matte Lipstick Frambourjoise Pale Skin Swatch My Pale Skin Red Lipstick

When you have Pale Skin, one thing that can be scary is colour. I admit, I don't often wear the most exciting of make up looks as I generally stick with a nude eye and some form of nude lip on a daily basis. I guess the reason, or excuse on why I usually wear nude make up looks is partly because any type of colour I seem to wear just screams *STATEMENT* against my pale skin and blonde hair. I also get nervous when I can sense someone analyzing my face or studying my make up in general daily life. I've found that a nude look with a simple winged eye is enough to look smart and pulled together, whilst also mainly going unnoticed.

A few months ago I joined Instagram, and I love looking through at some of the insanely talented make up artists on there, there's so much inspiration just a click and swipe away, and it got me thinking... I'd finished looking at some incredible make up looks and then took a look at my own profile, and noticed that 90% off my looks all fell into the same 'safety zone' look - A simple flick with a nude/pink lip, and you know what? I was bored. I bored myself by looking at the make up I wear and decided to do something about it.

I've recently collected 4 shades of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick* and decided that I wanted to experiment with them. I also managed to pick up the Urban Decay Electric Palette as well as a few new Kiko Eyeshadows and some other goodies, all in bright colours in the hopes of actively trying to introduce a bit of colour into my daily life.

The challenge I find myself facing with colour, is slowly introducing it without it suddenly beckoning second glances, so I don't find myself getting insanely self conscious... whilst also pushing my comfort levels and trying new things! It's a bit of a conundrum, and hopefully one I can try gradually. Although, you never know, in a few months there may be some insane crazy neon eyeshadow looks featured on here as my confidence grows!

I think it's always great to push yourself and challenge your own comfort levels. That's one of my personal targets for this year, and I'm hoping to share some of these looks with you, so starting with the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Frambourjois*, from the comfort and safety of my bedroom, I'm making a start.

I'd love to hear what some of your favourite colours are to wear! Let me know in the comments!
